National Computer Science Framework Review Launched!

Pat Yongpradit, Chief Academic Officer for Code.org, invites educators to review the first draft of the national K-12 computer science framework. As interest and growth in K-12 computer science grows, the framework will help answer a common question: What do students need to know and be able to do in K-12 computer science? In California we are seeing growing interest in integrating computer science at all grade levels. One of the goals of this initiative is to develop conceptual guidelines for creating a K-12 pathway in computer science.

The review period for the 9-12 grade band concepts and practices is from February 3 to February 17. Instructions for individuals and facilitators of group reviews, an online review submission form, the review draft of the 9-12 grade band, and background materials are now available at http://K12cs.org/review.

Abe Lincoln said, “The best way to predict your future is to create it.” Participating in this work will help you shape the way computer science is taught in the future.
