Making Change Work

It’s easy to become frustrated with the many changes education is currently undergoing. You, and your school and programs, will benefit if you take steps to control what and how you change.

Organizations and individuals will find change is easier to embrace and more effective when they use a simple and action-oriented framework for taking control of change. For example, the Prosci® ADKAR® Change Management Model is an easy, process-driven model for groups and individuals to identify and remove barriers, mitigate resistance and equip people with the knowledge and abilities to make the transition successfully.

The five key building blocks that form the basis of the ADKAR® model are:

  • Awareness of the need for change
  • Desire to participate and support the change
  • Knowledge on how to change
  • Ability to implement required skills and behaviors
  • Reinforcement to sustain the change
